I RULE Friday, December 15, 2006 ( 01:43 AM ) After what seemed like an endless eternity of over-the-top melodrama on The OC, I was ready to give up completely on the show this season before it even started. Megan, however, refused to let me go and compelled me to keep watching (TV time, in our family, qualifies as Quality Family Time). And hoo boy, am I glad I stuck with it! I guess the first sign that it was going to be a great season was the opening montage of the season premiere, which was set to a song by Placebo. The whole episode was wonderfully dark and gloomy and I was so glad they approached Marissa Cooper's graduation to the afterlife head-on (I think part of me just expected the show to move on and not mention her ever again). Watching all of the characters cope with the worst part of the show being gone has been probably the most interesting part of the new season. That, and the fact that they have totally ramped up the comedy. Each episode seems to be getting funnier, which is a nice change from the usual scandalous drama of the past few years. Before, funny moments were peppered into episodes here and there, but now, it's a full-on laugh fest! Huzzah! Too bad, though, that the ratings are down the tubes. I'm guessing the show won't be around much longer, which is fine, because this is easily the best season of The OC ever. There's no shame in going out on a high note. DocPenfold: we're coming out for ABA in May, we'll come up to visit! DocPenfold: good timing on getting knocked up Franuisco: nice! I was hoping you'd be here for that. That was my plan!
