So apparently Wednesday was ABORTION DAY on the University of Texas campus. As I was walking to class I came upon two ginormous abortion-related displays consisting of two-story banners being held up by frickin scaffolding. The first, belonging to the abortionist hippies, was a wordy tirade about something or other; I didn't really get into it beyond seeing the word CHOICE and something about how the rate of abortions in the U.S. hasn't really gone up since Roe v. Wade happened. A little bit up Speedway, the anti-abortionists had set up their own towering infernal of propaganda. This one, though, featured a giant picture of an aborted fetus! Who knew the abortion debate could be so awesome?? Apparently fetuses are skinned and then doused in tomato sauce before their picture gets taken. Do a Google image search on aborted fetus and you'll see what I mean!

We all know how I feel about politics in general, so suffice it to say the whole shebang was pretty annoying. The most profound part of it all was that this song was playing on the 'pod while I was walking by. Seriously.

Just tell me fucking why everything becomes an issue
Your opinion is always senseless - fuck this
You make my fucking skin crawl
I've lived with it - can't stand anymore
My worst nightmare
I want to take a bullet in the fucking head
Every time I think of you, every time I think of you

You self-righteous fuck
Give me a reason not to rip your fucking face off
Why don't you take a good look in these eyes
Cause I'm the one that's gonna tear your fucking heart out
My hate is contagious
Anyone else need to vent?
You've tried my tolerance; I just want you to die

Well the Ess-Dog is coming out to Texas for SXSW tonight. In an attempt to forgo as much of the super-hipster onslaught that will be 6th Street at Night, we're going to hit up a bunch of day parties and get drunk before the sun sets. The tentative schedule:

Wednesday:
Daniel Johnston @ The Escapist Bookstore, 6pm
The Ess-Dog's buds Appogee @ The Velvet Spade, 11pm

Thursday:
The Soundtrack of Our Lives @ Waterloo Records, 2pm
St. Patty's Day BBQ @ Eric's house

Friday:
The Rosebuds, Crooked Fingers, & Jesse Sykes @ Pok-E-Jo's, 1pm

Saturday:
Mary Lou Lord @ The Dog & Duck Pub, 6pm
The Trachtenburg Family Slideshow Players @ Eternal, 8pm

Other bands that I've seen a bunch of times that are also playing at SXSW but won't be worth it to see them for a 40-minute set: American Music Club, Mark Eitzel, Pedro the Lion, & Rebecca Gates. I would love to go see Milton Mapes but since they're a local band, I'm sure I'll have plenty more opportunities to catch them.

There are probably a few other shows the Ess-Dog will want to hit up -- we'll be discussing it later.

From "the last bastion of intelligent discussion:"

Have MP3s pushed music that far down? Is adult comtemporary really dead?

Yes, friends, this was posted in response to the insanely radical Darius Rucker Burger King commercial.

The tendency for internet people to pretentiously over-think pretty much anything in existence is evident when you see that a commerical about how "cheddar paves the streets" is suddenly the signal that rampant mp3 trading has finally robbed pop music of its dignity.

Seriously. Where do people come up with these things?? Those quotation marks at the top of this entry are the most sarcastic quotation marks I've ever typed in my life.

And by the way, what the fuck does someone who's YOUNGER than me (okay, just barely) really care about the death of adult contemporary?? We're not even 30 yet. Adult contemporary is for our older brothers and sisters who just didn't get Nirvana. Besides, last I heard, Rob Thomas is coming out with a solo album. Quit yer bitchin.

While a sequel to Ferris Bueller's Day Off initially sounds like a crappy idea, once I read the potential plot, its pure simplicity totally won me over.

From the Court TV website:

Sheen, who now stars in the CBS sitcom "Two and a Half Men," is best known for his work in the movies "Platoon," "Ferris Bueller's Day Off" and "Hot Shots."

Ferris Bueller's Day Off??? You mean, the ten seconds he's on screen as Boy in Police Station? That's the best Court TV could come up with? If they really wanted to go with obscure Charlie Sheen cameos, they could've at least mentioned the much more clever one in Being John Malkovich.

So the fine gents over at Kallini.com were so wowed by my spurious picture of a dead tiger laying at the feet of a infant bee that they found it necessary to link to my site!

My favorite part is that, originally being from California, I'm "petarded." I don't even know what they were thinking when they came up with that one. If it's some sort of weak allusion to PETA, well, it hardly works guys. What's even more insulting is that they didn't even link to my awesome Tiger Killing Machine picture!!

Damn, I don't know who makes me more tired. Anne Geddes or people who love to talk politics.

And I'm really interested in what sort of whacked out Google search they did to find the bee/tiger picture. Other than "bee tiger", that is.

In case you're wondering what my position is on killing wildlife:
